STEAM is located in the Rodbourne area of Swindon. If you walk to STEAM from the Swindon Railway Station, Town Centre, or Bus Station, it will likely take you 10 – 20 minutes, depending on your pace.
Driving to STEAM
From the M4, take junction 16. For all directions, follow the brown tourist signs for ‘Designer Outlet’ or the ‘M’ for museum signs (towards the town centre and Rodbourne). Please see car parking for more information.
Taking the train to STEAM
London Paddington to Bristol line. Turn right outside the Railway Station and follow the pedestrian path until you come to the GWR tunnel (on the right) which is signposted to STEAM. For train times, please visit www.gwr.com
Taking a Bus
Regular bus services provided by Swindon Bus Company and Stagecoach West run from Swindon Town Centre. There are many bus stops within a short walk of STEAM. From Swindon Town Centre, bus numbers 1, 1A, 5, 10, 19, 22, 53, 54 and 55 stop close to STEAM – ask the bus driver for the Designer Outlet.

Taxis are available from Swindon Railway and Bus Stations.

The main and closest car parking for STEAM is located at the Swindon Designer Outlet North and West Car Parks, which are just five minutes’ walk from the Museum.
If you are using a Sat Nav, please enter ‘Kemble Drive’ for the North car park or ‘Penzance Drive’ for the West car park.
Please note the bus lane next to the West car park should NOT be used. Cameras are in use and Swindon Borough Council will issue fines.
You can get FREE PARKING with a Defence Technology Show registration pass.
The North and West Designer Outlet Car Parks work by number plate recognition. When you’ve checked in for the Defence Technology Show, you will be directed to a tablet where you will need to put your registration plate details into the tablet, which will validate your parking, allowing you to get out for free.
If you intend to drop equipment off for the show by car, please note that an access password is required. This password will be provided on registering for delivery.

All badges must be registered for in advance of the event and always worn on-site. No one will be permitted into the exhibition hall during the event without the appropriate pass. Please refer to the Sponsor Attendee Badges to register for an exhibitor badge.
Open: Every member of staff working on the stand during the open period of the event will be required to wear an Exhibitor Badge. These badges can be collected from 07:30hrs on the 17th October from the Ticket Desk.
All tickets are emailed out to registered visitors.

Cloakroom
There will be a cloakroom on site on the event day.
Bag Policy
For our visitors’ security and safety: Visitors are NOT permitted to bring large shopping bags, large rucksacks or travel luggage into the Museum.

All attendees must be employed by the Ministry of Defence.
STEAM is fully accessible – with lifts and ramps giving wheelchair and pushchair access throughout the museum. Disabled toilet facilities are also available.
We are pleased to provide the following facilities and services:
– Free loan of a wheelchair or motorised scooter (booking required).
– Accessible toilets, fitted with call point.
– Induction loop system at the Ticket Desk.
– Easy-to-read signage.
– Guide, Hearing and Assistance dogs welcome (dog bowls available).
– Automatic entrance doors.
– Baby and adult changing facilities.
Parking for Disabled Visitors
FREE car parking is available at the front of the Museum for registered Defence Show attendees who display a valid Blue Badge. Please note the venue, STEAM, cannot accept liability for vehicles parked in front of the Museum.
